McLeod County will not pursue increase in wheelage tax 15 Jul 17

The McLeod County Board will not be considering an increase to its wheelage tax. The county currently has a wheelage tax of $10 per registered vehicle in the county, which generates about $375,000 per year. The legislature passed a law allowing counties to raise the wheelage tax in 2018 in $1 increments up to $20. That money is to be dedicated to the county’s road and bridge fund.
