Montgomery City Council grapples with what to do with PD 19 Jun 17

The Montgomery City Council is still without a police chief and is mulling over the idea whether to keep a community police department or hand off the management duties to Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Department. The community has been without a police chief since the council terminated former Police Chief John Schmidt’s contract March 30th.  The council recently voted to extend the agreement with the county for several weeks beyond the July 12th end date. A survey was sent to Montgomery residents to get their opinions about the police department before a decision is made.
