New Ulm Council determines sanctions for Plaza Garibaldi 03 May 17

The New Ulm City Council handed down sanctions Tuesday following a public hearing for a popular New Ulm restaurant that has its third liquor violation. Plaza Garibaldi received a $1,000 fine and 15 day liquor suspension with the first 7 days of the suspension to be served consecutively before June 30th, 2017, and the remaining 8 days to be served before October 31st, 2017 at the restaurant’s choosing. At the start of the hearing, Plaza Garibaldi’s attorney Michael Boyle asked for consideration in determining the sanctions saying the server responsible for serving the alcohol to minors was never formally charged. In addition, negative publicity from the restaurant has already hurt the restaurant as customers already assume the liquor license is in suspension.

sure don’t hear much about the horrific drug problems in the area but they sure do like to bust the chops of restaurants. how can the business be guilty of anything if the server was never charged? does “the counsel” have any idea how hard it is to find and train employees these days? the whole thing just makes me mad..there are much bigger fish to fry….
