City of Fairfax waiting for DNR agreement on golf course 11 Apr 17

The Fairfax City Council is expected to hear an update at today’s meeting on the progress of a 5-year contract with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the city to operate the golf course at Fort Ridgely State Park. The council hoped to approve a resolution to accept the contract at today’s meeting, but the contract is currently being held up by DNR attorneys. The golf course advisory board has a sense of urgency to get out on the course and begin preparing it for opening day. A special council meeting may have to be called if the contract is ready before May’s meeting. In the meantime, Friends of Fort Ridgely have raised more than $70,000 of the $100,000 goal to buy golf course equipment and fund related start-up costs to operate the golf course.
