Joan Traxler’s Irish Stewsubmitted by Margie Grossman of Courtland -”Good meal on a cold day”

2 lbs. beef, cubed (and enough oil to brown it in)
6-8 carrots, cut in chunks
6 potatoes, peeled and cubed
3 t beef bouillon granules
1-2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 T salt
1/2 c tapioca
3 1/2 c water
1/2 c wine
1 T sugar
1-2 ribs celery
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 pkg frozen peas

Thoroughly brown the beef cubes in hot oil. Remove the meat and place in roaster; add remaining ingredients except the frozen peas, which should be added half an hour before serving. Bake for four hours at 250°.
