The man who hit a pedestrian in Mankato seriously injuring him has been charged. Fifty-one-year-old Michael John Muellerleile of North Mankato was charged Wednesday with felony criminal vehicular operation, felony failure to stop at an injury crash and a misdemeanor for driving without insurance. According to the criminal complaint, Muellerleile fled the scene after hitting 62-year-old Todd Merlin Bauman of Mankato on January 13th. Three days later Muellerleile admitted he knew he struck someone but fled because he didn’t have insurance. Bauman sustained serious injuries that he is still being treated for. He suffered a broken back, leg and arm, severe whiplash, a brain bleed and a suspected stroke that has limited movement on his left side.
