2/3 c milk or half and half
3 eggs
1/3 c orange juice
1 t sugar
1 t vanilla
1 t grated orange peel
1/4 t cinnamon
1/8 t nutmeg
4 – 1 day old croissants, halved lengthwise
2 T butter
powdered sugar
maple syrup

Whisk together the first 8 ingredients in a medium bowl. Add croissants to egg batter and turn until thoroughly coated. Melt butter in a heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add the croissants and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3 minutes per side. Sift powdered sugar on top and serve with maple syrup. Serves 4
