Train/pickup collision near Litchfield 18 Jul 16

A Litchfield man escaped with only minor injuries after his pickup was struck by a train in Meeker County Thursday, July 14th. The sheriff’s department says around 8:30 they received a report of a vehicle train collision at a driveway on Highway 12 near Litchfield. The driver and lone occupant of the pickup, 24-year-old Tanner Gassman was traveling northbound headed toward Highway 12 when he crossed the tracks in front of the eastbound train. The BNSF train hit the rear of the pickup truck, flipping and pushing it into the ditch. Gassman received minor injuries and was transported by private party to the hospital to be checked out. The crossing is only controlled by a stop sign.
