Legislators deciding on Madelia aid 10 May 16

Legislators want to help the city of Madelia recover from a fire that burned down most of the downtown district in February. Separate measures in the House of Represenatives and the Senate are scheduled to go before lawmakers this week. Madelia legislation is part of the House and Senate tax bills and a $100,000 bonding project to help rebuild the  city’s infrastructure is part of the Senate’s bonding bill. Representatives Bob Gunther of Fairmont and Tony Cornish of Vernon Center introduced bills at the end of March calling for a 15-year-property tax exemption and an increase in Local Government
