In an effort to get finances under control after an audit in October showed a $190,000 deficit, the Le Sueur Henderson School Board has decided to eliminate substitute teachers. In doing so it will save the district $20-25,000 per year. This is part of a pilot program where students without a substitute teacher would report to study hall or follow an on-line lesson plan or exercise designed by their teacher. The district plans to start this pilot program in January.
