Twins Win, Begin 10 Game Homestand 14 Aug 14

 Kennys Vargas delivered a two-run single in the top of the eighth inning as the Twins topped the Astros 3-1 at Minute Maid Park.  Danny Santana went 4-for-5 and Joe Mauer [[ MOW-er ]] homered for Minnesota, which took two-of-three in the series.  Kyle Gibson pitched seven-and-two-thirds innings of one-run ball to move to 11-and-9.  Glen Perkins posted his 30th save.  The Twins have today off.  They will begin a four-game series with the Royals tomorrow night at Target Field.  Minnesota went 3-and-4 on its road trip to Oakland and Houston.  Ricky Nolasco gets the ball tomorrow for Minnesota.  He is 5-and-7 with a 5.90 ERA in 18 starts.  KC will counter with left-hander Danny Duffy, who is 7-and-10 with a 2.57 ERA.
