Council and the city sign 20 Aug 14

The New Ulm City Council discussed the future of the city sign in the city hall parking lot during its meeting Tuesday evening.  City manager Brian Gramentz said that the council considered several options – remove the sign, update it, which would cost between $50,000 and $80,000 or put together a request for proposal for businesses to lease the sign and pay some sort of rent to the city.  Gramentz and city attorney Hugh Nierengarten will get together to put together language for the proposal to bring before the council at their next meeting.  Any business with the best proposal that fits the city’s criteria would be eligible.  That business would be responsible for the sign which has fallen into disrepair and is inoperable
