A bison skull was found Saturday in a Franklin Area creek by 11-year-old Keygan Lund and his friends Jake Edwards, and Nick Utz. Edwards and Utz were visiting from Elk River and needed bait for the Catfish Days fishing contest. Another friend of Lund’s, Jason Berberich of Springfield, joined the group to look for bait along the riverbanks when they found a half-buried rock that appeared to have horns on it. The boys then consulted Scott Larson, who took them to the Redwood County Museum, and later recommended the boys to visit Roland Columbus of the Lower Sioux Community. Columbus who has a similar skull in his home confirmed that it was a bison skull that was found. The skull will likely end up in a local museum sometime soon.
