The dedication of the new Sleepy Eye Veterans’ Park is taking place tonight. Economic Development Coordinator for Sleepy Eye Kurk Kramer says the event starts at 7 with the honor guard marching from the Servicemen’s Club to the park, which is on main street where the former Hose Hardware building and other buildings used to stand. It features a concrete pentagon-shaped pad with the five military branch flags, a Memorial Wall, KIA Monument and more. The Servicemen’s Club will be selling flags following the ceremony and the public is encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to sit on. The Veterans’ Park was made possible thru donations from over 80 businesses and individuals. Kramer says if you would like to purchase a Bronze Plate with a Veteran’s name you should contact Sleepy Eye City Hall.
