Twins Take Two From Tribe, Release Guerrier 24 Jul 14

The Minnesota Twins used emergency starter Anthony Swarzak to work five innings of one-run ball and beat the Indians 3-1 at Target Field yesterday afternoon in the rubber game of the three game series.  Sam Fuld and Brian Dozier each drove in single runs in the third and fifth innings, while Oswaldo Arcia added insurance in the sixth with his sixth home run of the year.  Glen Perkins notched his 24th save of the season.  Minnesota will entertain the Chicago White Sox tonight, opening up a four-game series against Chicago. Coverage begins at 6:40pm on SAM 107.3.

The Minnesota Twins have designated veteran bullpen arm Matt Guerrier [[ guh-REAR ]] for assignment, essentially ending his time with the team.  Guerrier appeared in 27 games with the Twins this season and was 1-and-0 with a 3.86 earned run average.  He is third on the all-time list of innings pitched as a Twin with 488 innings worked.  He struggled in his appearance on Tuesday night and Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire says it was not an easy decision to let go of a popular teammate.  The Twins recalled Ryan Pressly from Class AAA Rochester to fill the roster spot vacated by Guerrier.  Pressly turned in a 2.98 ERA in 35 appearances with the Red Wings.  He is 25-years old and worked 49 games for the big league Twins last season.
