The New Ulm District 88 School Board appointed Denny Waloch to fill a vacant seat on the board through the end of the year. Waloch takes over the seat vacated by Sharon Gieseke early last month. He is the manager of the New Ulm Walgreens, and has 2 young children in the school district, and was one of two candidates that applied for the seat, the other being New Ulm Police Officer Eric Gramentz. The District 88 Personnel Committee reviewed the applications of the two and made a recommendation to the full board Thursday evening. The seat will now be on the ballot for November’s general election to fill out the remaining two years of Gieseke’s term. Waloch has reportedly confirmed that he will run for the seat again this fall.
