New Ulm Grad, Named Assistant VB Coach 31 Jul 14

 Southwest Minnesota State University head volleyball coach Terry Culhane announced today that Tyler Boddy has been named the new assistant volleyball coach at SMSU.

 Boddy, a New Ulm graduate, has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at SMSU with the Mustangs racking up a combined 54 victories, including a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular season and tournament championship in 2012 and appearances in the NCAA tournament in both 2012 and 2013.

 Boddy has an extensive coaching resume in the Junior Olympic volleyball circuit and playing at the collegiate club level. He served as head coach for the Southwest Minnesota Juniors 17s in 2013 and this summer was the head coach for the Southwest Minnesota 18s that won the USAV “18-American” national championship. He also played five seasons of club volleyball at Wisconsin-Oshkosh, earning NCVF National Player of the Year accolades in 2011.  

Boddy came to SMSU after spending two seasons (2010-11) as an assistant coach at Wisconsin-Oshkosh and one season (2009) as an assistant coach at Ripon College.

Boddy is a 2012 graduate of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a degree in elementary education and completed his master’s degree in sports leadership from SMSU in 2014.
