New Ulm Child Abuse Sentencing 21 Jul 14

A New Ulm man has pleaded guilty to domestic assault, and a felony malicious punishment of a child charge against him has been dismissed as part of a plea deal. 31-year-old Steven Zeitz was accused of administering repeated spankings on a weekly basis as well as pinching, kicking and slapping his children and having them squat in a corner while he yelled at them. He was sentenced to 365 days in the Brown County Jail with credit for 45 days already served, but that sentence was stayed for the 2-year term of his probation.  He was also fined  $3,000 and was ordered to have no contact with the victims, complete drug tests and maintain a job, as well as undergo anger management courses.
