Highway 99 Bridge Work Delayed 21 Jul 14

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says that the preservation work on the historic Highway 99 Bridge in St. Peter has been delayed until 2017. Mn-DOT officials say that the low bidder on the project failed to meet federal regulations that require the contractor to make a good faith effort to use disadvantaged businesses for the contract work. Mn-Dot will be doing flood mitigation projects along Highway 169 over the next 2 years as well, creating a number of detours for motorists. Officials will re-evaluate the bridge preservation project in 2017, and until then the steel truss bridge has been ruled structurally sound.
