Chocolate Ice Cream Delight

1 gallon chocolate ice cream

2 cups Cool Whip

1 box Vanilla Wafers

1 stick butter

Crush 1 box Vanilla Wafers. Set aside 1 cup. Melt one stick butter and mix with wafer crumbs. Press into jelly roll pan and set in freezer. Spoon ice cream into large mixing bowl. Beat on slow speed until smooth. Fold in 2 cups of Cool Whip and mix by hand. Spread over wafer crust. Sprinkle remaining cup of wafer crumbs over ice cream. Cover with wax paper and return to freezer.
