Cespedes Wins Derby, Dozier Hits Two 15 Jul 14

Twins second baseman Brian Dozier hit just two homers in last night’s Home Run Derby at Target Field.  Oakland A’s slugger Yoenis Cespedes [[ yo-EN-iss SESS-peh-dess ]] won the event for the second straight year.  He defeated Todd Frazier 9-1 in the final round.

Catcher Kurt Suzuki and closer Glen Perkins will represent the Twins in tonight’s All-Star Game at Target Field.  The American League won 3-0 last year in New York after losing the previous three seasons.  The winning league gets home field advantage in the World Series.  Minnesota opens the second half of the season on Friday at home against the Tampa Bay Rays. Coverage of the All Star Game begins at 6pm on 860 AM KNUJ.
