Six college-age students who pleaded guilty after a party that led to a young man’s death received their sentences on Wednesday. Dawson-Boyd High School senior Michael Anyasike was among an estimated 100 youths attending the party in March. The 18-year-old fled when police arrived, and his body was found the following day at a farm site about a mile away. He died of hypothermia, with alcohol as a contributing factor. In Lac qui Parle County Court this week, the judge accepted the 6 guilty pleas and issued a stay of adjudication or a continuance for dismissal when sentencing the defendants, ages 19 through 20. Their convictions on minor offenses will not be entered as criminal records if they complete their sentences, although their arrest records will continue to show the charges.
