A 34-member task force for the Sibley East School District has issued recommendations for constructing a new school for the district following a series of meetings over the past few months. The recommendations call for constructing a new Sibley East Elementary School in Gaylord as well as remodeling and expanding the district’s Arlington campus to create a middle and high school. The total cost would be just under $44-million. The plan is to construct a new Pre-K through 5th-grade school in Gaylord and remodel half of the existing campus in Arlington along with new construction there. The existing gymnasium would be turned into an auditorium as well, and a new gym would be constructed. The task force will be presenting its recommendations to the Sibley East School Board in the near future after meeting earlier this week to refine and discuss the details.
