A rural New Ulm man has been named the Independence Party’s candidate for Lieutenant Governor. Tim Gieseke kicked off his campaign at the Minnesota River Congress in New Ulm Thursday. He is a Nicollet County Ag Conservation Consultant who will be the running mate of the Independence Party-endorsed candidate for governor, Hannah Nicollet. She says that Gieseke was recommended to her for his expertise in the agricultural and conservation fields and for his innovative ideas. Gieseke previously ran as an Independence Party candidate for the state house of representatives in the January 2013 special election to fill the seat of former DFL Representative Terry Morrow now held by Clark Johnson.
