Redwood Social Host Ordinance 24 Jun 14

The Redwood County Board has approved a social host ordinance that can lead to misdemeanor charges against people hosting events at which minors consume alcohol. The measure is intended to help curb underage drinking in Redwood County. It only applies to people who knowingly host such an event. The penalty for doing so can be up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. The State of Minnesota also has a civil social host statute that allows people to be sued in such a case.
