Today (TUE) is the final day to get your name on an election ballot for state and federal office in Minnesota. The candidate filing period for the 2014 campaign season has been open for 2 weeks, but it closes at the end of the business day today. Some local candidates must file during this window as well, although most municipal offices and school board seats have a filing period that starts in late July. This year, voters in Minnesota will vote for a governor, as well as the offices of attorney general, secretary of state and auditor. A US Senate seat will also be on the ballot, along with 8 seats in Congress and control of the 134-seat Minnesota House is also at stake. Anyone who files for office and then changes their mind has until Thursday to pull their name from contention. Primary Election Day is August 12th and General Election Day is November 4th.
