Obstructing The Legal Process Plea 05 Jun 14

A New Ulm woman accused of spitting on a police officer following a traffic stop last year was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 2 years of supervised probation this week. 42-year-old Carri Jo Odegard had been pulled over in early October for allegedly driving while impaired and was taken to the New Ulm Medical Center for a blood sample. While there she reportedly had to be restrained, however, and allegedly told the officers that she had several STDs and AIDS, and would infect them. She then apparently tried to spit on the officers. She pleaded guilty to obstructing the legal process, and an assault of a peace officer charge was dismissed. In court this week Odegard was given credit for 30 days already served in jail, which was served concurrently with a DWI conviction. She was also fined over a thousand dollars and ordered to attend psychotherapy.
