The Madelia Rotary Club recently presented its annual “Service Above Self” award to long-time Rotarian Deane Antoine. The award is Rotary’s highest honor, recognizing those who demonstrate their commitment to helping others by volunteering their time and talents. Antoine served as superintendent of Madelia Schools for many years, beginning in 1974. That was the same year he joined the Madelia Rotary Club, and since that time he has had near-perfect attendance to all the meetings and has been active in all the Rotary Club’s fundraising events. He also served as the club’s treasurer for 18 years.
