A 19-year-old Madelia man convicted of raping a teenage girl was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 15 years of supervised probation in Watonwan County Court Tuesday. Jesus Pedraza was convicted of 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct in a jury trial last month after being accused of entering the victim’s room last July and raping her, despite her telling him to stop. The two reportedly knew each other. Pedraza was acquitted by the jury on a more-serious 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct count. In court Tuesday, a 3-year prison sentence was stayed for the length of his probation as long as Pedraza complies with all conditions. He will be required to register as a predatory offender, may have no contact with minors, and may not possess pornography or access the internet without permission.
