A longtime educator and administrator who served at several local area school districts has passed away at the age of 68. Tony Boyer of Le Sueur died Tuesday at River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter after a 5-year battle with kidney cancer. The Worthington native began his 42-year career in education as a Social Studies and Physical Education Teacher, as well as a coach, in both the Brownton and Le Center School Districts. He continued his career as a High School Principal in New Richland and New Prague, and then served as the superintendent in Le Center for 14 years. Boyer returned to education after his retirement to serve as interim superintendent and educational advisor for the McLeod West, Nicollet and GFW school districts also. He was awarded the regional Superintendent of Excellence award in 2003 as well. Boyer’s funeral is at 11am on Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur. Visitation will be from 3-7pm on Monday at the Le Center Funeral Home, and an hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
