The flooding continues around the area after torrential rain drenched the state throughout much of last week. Senator Amy Klobuchar visited Mankato on Sunday to talk with local officials about flood damage. On Saturday, 2nd District Congressman John Kline visited Scott and Rice Counties. He says emergency responders and volunteers have heroically answered the call to help keep their fellow Minnesotans safe. On Thursday, Governor Dayton declared a state of emergency in 35 counties hit hard by heavy rain last week, including the majority of the KNUJ listening area. The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings and watches for several parts of central and southern Minnesota, and numerous highways remain closed due to flooding, especially in the St. Peter, Le Sueur, Henderson and Mankato areas.
