A 23-year-old Le Center man is facing felony charges in Blue Earth County for allegedly kidnapping a woman and leading police on a high-speed chase over the weekend. Authorities had attempted to stop Jaime Soto Jr for speeding at around 1:30am Saturday in Mankato when the car chase ensued. It reportedly reached speeds of 100 miles-per-hour before Soto drove across a lawn and crashed through a wire fence. He was arrested at gunpoint after stopping in a field. A substance that tested positive for cocaine was found in his pocket as well, and a nearby woman told police that she had jumped out of Soto’s car shortly before he stopped after he had refused to take her home. The two had apparently been in a relationship that the woman had recently ended. Soto is facing charges of stalking, false imprisonment, drug possession, fleeing police and DWI. He remains in custody in the Blue Earth County Jail.
