A rural Madison man has been sentenced to two years in jail after admitting to hosting a party in March that led to a Dawson teen’s death. With good behavior and no probation violations, 19-year-old Eric Hastad will have to serve only 35 days behind bars. When police arrived at the party, the 100-or-so guests scattered, including 18-year-old Dawson-Boyd High School senior Michael Anyasike, who later died from exposure. His body was found the next day about a mile from the party site. In April, Hastad pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and violation of the county’s social host ordinance. His father, 59-year-old Gary Hastad, still faces charges of violating that ordinance. Six other college-aged students that were at the party received stayed sentences last week after pleading guilty to their role in violating a social host ordinance.
