Heavy rain hit parts of Minnesota over the weekend, and part of Interstate 90 was closed due to flooding. Officials closed all four lanes of I-90 in southwestern Minnesota from Luverne to the South Dakota border early Sunday morning after water up to four feet high from the heavy rains covered the freeway. It was re-opened later Sunday morning. The rain also washed away the spillway at Blue Mounds State Park, north of Luverne. Secondary roads and farm fields were underwater elsewhere in Rock County and other locations Sunday. Strong winds tore down trees throughout southern Minnesota on Saturday as well. New Ulm received just-under 2-inches of rain all weekend.
