Twins Win 21 May 14

Josmil Pinto plated the go-ahead run on a sac-fly in the seventh inning as the Twins topped the Padres 5-3 in the opener of a two-game interleague set at Petco Park.  Kurt Suzuki hit an inside-the-park home run in the eighth, while Chris Parmelee added a solo shot for Minnesota, which has won four-of-five.  Kevin Correia improved to 2-and-5 and Glen Perkins posted his 13th save. 

 The Twins wrap up their brief two-game interleague series with the Padres tonight in San Diego.  Minnesota will then head to San Francisco for a weekend series against the Giants.  Phil Hughes gets the ball tonight for the Twins.  He is 4-and-1 with a 3.61 ERA in eight starts.  The Friars will counter with Tyson Ross, who is 5-and-3 with a 2.81 ERA.
