Twins Defeat New York 31 May 14

Ricky Nolasco threw six innings of one-run ball to power the Twins in a 6-1 win over the Yankees last night in New York.  Minnesota had dropped six of its last seven.  Trevor Plouffe hit a two-run homer while Oswaldo Arcia and Josh Willingham added solo shots in the victory.  Twins right-hander Mike Pelfrey is headed back to noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews.  Pelfrey is dealing with tingling in his fingers because of the ulnar collateral nerve in his elbow.  Andrews did Pelfrey’s Tommy John surgery in 2012. The Twins and Yankees continue their three-game series from New York this afternoon.  Kevin Correia takes the mound sporting a 2-and-6 record for Minnesota.  The Yanks counter with Masahiro Tanaka, who is 7-and-1.  First pitch from Yankee Stadium is set for 12:05.
