A St. James man was sentenced to time in prison this week in Brown County Court for burglary and escape from custody charges. 33-year-old Garret Dean Loudermilk was accused of stealing over $7,000 worth of items from garages in New Ulm. He pleaded guilty to felony 3rd-degree burglary in court on Tuesday, and 3 other charges were dismissed. He was sentenced to 21-months in prison for that charge, and was ordered to pay restitution. The escape from custody charge came after Loudermilk failed to report to jail earlier this year after violating his probation. He pleaded guilty to that charge on Tuesday as well, and was sentenced to 18-months in prison. He is also currently serving time in jail for drug convictions in Blue Earth and Watonwan Counties.
