The 12 finalists for Princess Kay of the Milky Way were chosen over the weekend, and the list includes county dairy princesses from the KNUJ area. Nearly 80 young ladies from around the state competed for the chance to be the spokesperson for Minnesota’s dairy industry. The next Princess Kay will now be crowned the night before the kickoff of the Minnesota State Fair, and the 12 finalists will take on public relations roles during the fair, including having their heads carved out of 90-pound blocks of butter. The local area Princess Kay finalists are Carver County Dairy Princesses from Norwood Young America: Jeni Haler, the daughter of Rick Haler and Connie Haasken, and Christine Leonard, the daughter of Tim and Amy Leonard. Finalists from our regional area include Meeker County Dairy Princess Nicole Krumrie of Litchfield and Audrey Lane of Prior Lake, representing Scott and LeSueur Counties.
