Two Mankato men are in custody following a car chase and officer-involved shooting Wednesday night in Mankato. Officers with the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force were attempting to arrest 31-year-old Marlow Shelton McDonald when he was spotted in a vehicle near the intersection of West Lind and Range Streets in Mankato. But when authorities attempted to stop the vehicle it struck a Blue Earth County Squad car and then a drug task force vehicle. McDonald then allegedly drove toward a sheriff’s deputy in what appeared to be an attempt to run him over and the deputy fired several rounds at the driver. The vehicle then reportedly hit another drug task force vehicle before a brief pursuit which ended when it went through a retaining wall and ended up vertical. McDonald and 30-year-old Abdullahi Mohamoud Mohamed were taken to the Mankato Mayo Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries they received in the crash before being taken to the Blue Earth County Jail. They are facing multiple charges. No officers were injured in the incident, and Blue Earth County Deputy Brian Martin was placed on Paid Administrative Leave while an investigation into the shooting is completed.
