Motorists traveling on Highway 169 between St. Peter and Le Sueur can expect temporary lane closures beginning this week as the prep work for a major construction project gets underway. The southbound lanes of the highway are being raised to prevent future flooding of the roadway along the Minnesota River. Traffic on portions of Highway 169 will be restricted to two lanes throughout the summer beginning in mid-June. The $10.6-million flood mitigation project is being done in coordination with construction on St. Peter’s Old Minnesota Avenue as well. This is the first of three Minnesota River flood mitigation projects in that area.
