The Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial School Board has unanimously approved a plan to bring a $12-million bond referendum before voters later this summer. The board agreed that additions are needed at the district’s 2 campuses due to a projected rise in enrollment in the coming years. The Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Elementary School would get a 15,000 square-foot classroom addition and gymnasium, as well as energy efficient boilers if the proposed bond is approved. The secondary school would receive a 20,000 square-foot classroom addition and a new 12,000 square-foot gym. If the referendum passes, the tax impact on a $100,000 home in the school district would be $42 per-year. The referendum election will be held on Primary Day, August 12th. There will be a public information meeting on the referendum this coming Monday at 5:30pm in Room 113 at the Lake Crystal Secondary School also.
