ISD 88 Hall Of Fame Inductees 24 May 14

New Ulm’s ISD 88 Foundation has announced the six individuals who will be inducted into the new ISD 88 Hall of Fame later this year. The Hall of Fame seeks to honor individuals who have succeeded above the norm and who have made a difference in the communities in which they lived. The inaugural ISD 88 Hall of Fame individuals are: 1961 New Ulm High School graduate David Benson, who overcame numerous physical disabilities and went on to spend 25 years teaching and aiding children with disabilities; 1912 New Ulm graduate Wanda Gag, who became a famous American artist, author, translator, and illustrator; 1977 New Ulm grad Kirk Gregg, who serves as a high-ranking executive with Fortune 500 company Corning; 1963 New Ulm High School graduate Nancy Noyes Silcox, who obtained success in music, speech, and the arts and served as a head librarian in schools throughout the world; 1980 New Ulm graduate Terry Steinbach, a major league baseball player All Star MVP who won a World Series ring with the Oakland A’s; and long-time New Ulm High School teacher and coach Joe Harman, who served at the school for nearly 40 years and directed the New Ulm Park & Rec program. An induction ceremony and banquet will be held September 20th.
