Green Isle Elders’ Celebration 30 May 14

The Green Isle Community School is holding it’s 2014 Elders’ Celebration this (FRI) evening. Green Isle Community School Director Mary Menne says that two elders are chosen every year, and students write an original play based on the events of their lives. The Elders’ Celebration begins at 7pm today in the school gym, and is free and open to the public. The Elders being honored include Elmer Grams of New Ulm, who flew over 24 missions in World War II before his plane was shot down and he spent 19 months in a German Prison Camp; and Dan Vos of Waconia, formerly of Green Isle, who helped build schools and homes in Vietnam while serving in the Navy.
