Residents of the Cedar Mountain School District head to the polls today (TUE) to vote on a $7.7-million Bond Referendum. If approved the bond would be used to update the district’s elementary and high school facilities in Morgan and Franklin and bring the buildings in compliance with health and safety codes. The Cedar Mountain polling places are open from 3-8pm today. Brown and Redwood County residents vote in the Morgan School Library, while Renville County Cedar Mountain residents vote in the Franklin School Library.
Residents of the community of Ceylon are voting on Sunday liquor sales today (TUE) as well. The owner of Legends Bar and Grill in Ceylon, Cody Leiding is paying for the Special Election after collecting over 400 signatures on a petition calling for on-sale Sunday liquor sales. Minnesota state law says no on-site sales of intoxicating liquor may be made after 2am on Sundays unless approved by the voters in that community. Ceylon’s neighboring communities of Fairmont, Truman, Welcome and Granada all have Sunday liquor sales laws already in place, and residents of Dunnell will be voting on the issue during the General Election this November.
