Julie sought medical attention at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center after she had noticed some changes in her ability to come up with words and communicate various thoughts and ideas. After blood work and a CT scan, it was determined that she had a mass on her brain. In June of 2013, she underwent surgery at Abbott and was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. Over the last 9 months, Julie has undergone radiation and chemotherapy.
Throughout her treatments, she continued to be the voice on SAM 107.3 FM Community Accent Program. In late March, some of the same symptoms she experienced in June of last year were happening again and a tumor that was originally seen on the previous MRI had now grown and needed to be removed. On Friday, April 11, 2014, she had a second surgery in Rochester to have the tumor on her brain removed. Surgery went well. Additional treatments and surgeries may be needed to continue to treat tumors that may grow.
All proceeds will help with ongoing medical bills and chemotherapy/radiation treatments for Julie.
