The Minnesota Department of Health says that influenza activity in the state remains “sporadic” as the flu season winds down. A total of 15 Minnesotans were hospitalized with the flu last week, compared to 27 the previous week. One of those recent hospitalizations was in south-central Minnesota, and 1 was in the southwest area of the state, and the median age of those requiring hospitalization was 54. There have now been more than 1,400 hospitalizations since the flu season. There were 2 flu outbreaks in Minnesota schools over the past week as well, but none in the state’s long-term care facilities. The flu season usually runs from October through May in Minnesota.
