Nicollet County Restructuring Plan 24 Apr 14

The Nicollet County Board on Tuesday voted to restructure various county departments over the next two years. The Strategic Plan for major efficiency improvements was formulated following the retirement of Nicollet County Auditor/Treasurer Bridgette Kennedy in February. The planned changes over the next several years include: merging the Auditor/Treasurer, County Assessor, Environmental Services Departments and County Recorder’s Offices into one department called Property and Public Services; creating a Finance Department; and moving benefits administration to Human Resources. Commissioner Marie Dranttel voted against the plan over concerns that it would increase government involvement in the private sector. County officials say that sharing responsibilities and combining offices will save Nicollet County upwards of $350,000
