The New Ulm City Council will be considering changes to the city’s Noise Ordinance today (TUE). This comes after many months of discussing noise complaints regarding New Ulm Steel and Recycling after the company installed a metal shredder. A study determined that the business was violating New Ulm’s noise ordinance, but it was also discovered that the city noise ordinance is stricter than most Minnesota cities, so the Council will vote on revising the ordinance to Minnesota Pollution Control Agency standards. In other business, the Council will consider a Conditional Use Permit application for a CrossFit fitness center to be located in the building that formerly housed Twin Rivers Archery and Outdoors on North 20th Street. The area is currently zoned for industrial use. Today’s New Ulm City Council meeting starts at 5pm at City Hall.
