Montevideo Terror Plot Sentencing 28 Apr 14

A 25-year-old Montevideo man indicted in what the FBI once characterized as a terror plot to blow up the Montevideo Police Station is facing sentencing today (MON) in US District Court. Buford “Bucky” Rogers pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a firearm illegally and one count of possessing an unregistered destructive device. Authorities say that he and members of his family were part of a small anti-government group called the Black Snake Militia and that Rogers was plotting to blow up the Montevideo police station, raid the National Guard Armory and cut off communications to the city. Prosecutors say they’ll ask for at least 5 years in prison, while the defense plans to ask for less than the lowest guideline of 41 months.
