MN House Passes Equal Pay Bill 10 Apr 14

The Minnesota House by a wide margin Wednesday night passed a package of reforms dubbed the Women’s Economic Security Act. The bill expands support for employers to recruit women for non-traditional jobs, requires employers treat a worker equally if they’re a family caregiver, expands family leave and requires employers provide reasonable accommodation to nursing and pregnant workers, and allows workers to voluntarily discuss their compensation without fear of retaliation from their employer. The bill passed the House 106-24. The Senate will take up its version of the bill when it returns from the Spring Recess.
